“Well the blood’s in the water, and the shark’s gonna come.
And we swim in the dark, until our bodies are numb…”
–The Mountain Goats, “In the Craters on the Moon”

Pours deep brick red, topped with an impressive swell of frothy foam that clings to the glass like sea foam to a jetty. Slow, visible carbonation. Caramel malt and hops on the nose, makes me think of a red velvet cupcake–might make for a nice paring. Piney hops and grapefruit on the tongue, but warms to raisin bread. A bit boozy; strong, warming alcohol bite. Great balance of bitter and sweet. Creamy mouthfeel. Bitter as it rolls across the palate, but finishes sweet. Some bitter aftertaste, but overall crisp and clean. Distinct. Probably too much for some, but I found it very drinkable.
